TWIN LAKES ENGAGEMENT | COLORADO WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
When we daydream about the perfect Colorado day in the Rocky Mountains, we imagine sunny skies, snowcapped mountains, and serene sunsets with great company. And friends, this is EXACTLY the type of day we had with Amanda + Brady for their mountain engagement session. Holy moly — this day was absolutely perfect.
These soon to be newlyweds traveled all the way from our homeland, South Dakota, to snap some pics in front of what turned out to be a pretty epic mountain sunset. The colors, the lighting, the vibes — we spent days raving about how awesome this session was, and a big reason was that these two were such a joy to work with — they were so kind, genuine, and fun, the quintessential examples of Midwestern charm.
In all of our sessions, our goal is to tell an authentic love story through purposeful directing and by capturing natural, candid moments as they unfold. As it often happens, some of our favorite candid moments occurred in the transitions between shots - holding hands, cuddling, walking on the shoreline, and Brady helping Amanda button her dress for the finale of our shoot. It's these moments that helped us see what a sweet and honest love these two share.
As the sun began to set, we made our way west to capture the last bit of golden-hour light that had blessed the hillside throughout the afternoon. Brady (ever the gentleman) held Amanda's tightly as he guided her through a field of boulders (she was in heels and a dress, folks - that's pretty rad), and we settled near the shore for a final few shots. Looking out over the lake at the snowcapped mountains in the distance, with Amanda + Brady cuddled up in the midst of a cold Colorado evening, I couldn't help but think how fortunate we were to be a part of such a beautiful moment in this love story.
